NCA Training programs are designed to engage practitioners in recreation access issues with instructors nationally recognized for their expertise and commitment to inclusive recreation environments for people with disabilities. Thousands of park and recreation professionals, architects, landscape architects, planners, interpreters, accessibility coordinators, administrators, advocates, and consumers have participated in NCA Training programs and subsequently fostered change within their organizations and communities leading to a society more inclusive of people with disabilities.

Classroom Courses

The flagship of our training programs, our classroom courses directly engage practitioners with the most current issues surrounding access to parks and recreation. We offer comprehensive training courses at all levels, for those new to accessibility up to expert accessibility professionals. Our introductory courses cover topics such as disability awareness, legal obligations, standards, and program access while our advanced courses are tailored for specific fields such as interpretation, design, facilities, and/or historic sites. We can bring our trainers to you or coordinate and manage logistics at an off-site location.

Guest Lectures and Presentations

Our accessibility specialists are available to speak on a variety of accessibility-related topics at your next event or staff training. We can present on many of the topics listed in our Training Services Menu, lead a short training session, or highlight some of our major findings over the years.

Do you have limited time or widely dispersed employees? Our staff can present live or recorded webinar trainings on a variety of accessibility-related topics including service animals, access to historic sites, serving customers with disabilities, audio-description, program modifications, and many more subjects. See our Training Services Menu for a list of available topics.
